As Korea's only national organization founded to support teachers on visas, ATEK creates a unified voice to support the profession of English education.Whether it's in the National Assembly, government ministries, major educational and social institutions, or local governments, ATEK is there to inform, participate, and monitor the issues that matter to teachers most.
ATEK also helps to educate the public and the media in order to create a better understanding of teachers of English.
Foreign teachers need a supportive environment in which to live and work.
The Association for Teachers of English in Korea:
- supports English education as a profession
- supports expatriates in adjusting, living, and thriving in Korea
- educates the public and media on the unique issues of expatriate teachers of English, and
- advocates in legislatures, government ministries and agencies, educational settings, and major social institutions
