Korea Bridge, a Busan-based website working hard to provide useful information about expat life in Korea, hosted a discussion about workplace unions in Korea, with a panel that included
- Licensed Labor Law Attorney Jung Bong Soo, and Gerald Staruiala, both of Kangnam Labor Law Firm,
- Rob Ouwehand, National Communications Officer of ATEK
- Evan Lloyd, leader of a hagwon labor union formed last November
- Jurgen Germeys, CEO of Silk Road Language Center, and one of the few foreign Hagwon owners
ATEK is not a Labor Union, nor does ATEK provide legal counsel. As an information and support network for English teachers in Korea, ATEK can provide information about legal avenues English teachers can use to find a voice at their workplaces, and improve their lives.
